1-1STOP / HIT / POP
What STOP, HIT and POP actually are, how they differ, and drills for arms, neck and ankles.
Popping & boogaloo lessons from Tokyo · English subtitles
KOTOWARI (理) means the logic of how things work. These are my full classes from Tokyo. I explain movement through bones, weight and connection — in Japanese, with English subtitles on every line. Season 1 also has English dubbed audio. Seasons 2 and 3 are being added.
I've learned from dancers in many countries, and I'm still learning. These classes are my interpretation — not the tradition itself. When I talk about history, it's what I was taught, and there are many accounts.

A part from class 1-1: why you should start from the part of the music you can barely hear. This is how every class works — I explain in Japanese, you read along in English.
Season 1 · boogaloo fundamentals 12
The same course I teach in Tokyo. Full classes, not short clips.

What STOP, HIT and POP actually are, how they differ, and drills for arms, neck and ankles.

Full-body isolation, part by part: neck, shoulders, chest, hips, knees, fingers.

What Fresno really is, stance, weight shifting, and finding the point under your shin.

Principles of walk-outs and steps, controlled from the standing leg.

Twist-o-flex basics, twisting led by the shoulder blades.

Three rhythm textures — roll, swing, bounce — from the ground up.

Air pose and puppet: building the texture of air and of a marionette.

Rhythm theory, pulse, and training up to polyrhythm.

Building flow in your dance, and how to hold attention for 30 seconds.

Carry the body and the legs follow — legs driven from the core.

Season 1 review and choreography lecture, with a full run-through.

Season 1 finale: final choreography run-through and a look back at three months.
Season 2 · boogaloo fundamentals 12
The next 12 classes of the same course: hits, flex, up-down, waves, and a Q&A to close.

Season 2 starts: HIIT, shoulder-blade isolation, neck hits, and the Fresno stance.

How the Egyptian twist works, with weight shift and separating body parts.

What bottom first means, and hitting through the bones instead of the muscles.

Master flex, and four layers that make your dance look richer.

Up-down from the inside: the point under your shin, and rhythm from the spine.

How isolation links the whole body, taken apart step by step.

Isolation part by part, then continuation: keeping the flow going.

Air pose basics, plus hit drills to sharpen your timing.

Hand, body, micro and tidal waves, one type at a time.

Applied legs drills and combinations.

Groove that starts in the pelvis, and how the Namba walk works.

Season 2 wrap-up: answers to 11 questions from students.
Season 3 · boogaloo fundamentals 12
12 more classes, rebuilt around groove from the sacrum, ending with a full recap.

Season 3 opens: groove from the sacrum, and Fresno rebuilt on top of it.

Bottom first and flex, technique by technique, then pair work.

Four elements of groove, then rolls body part by body part.

Toyman and Fillmore: 90-degree angles and moving parts independently.

A review of everything so far: Fresno, bottom first, flex, roll and Toyman.

Isolation meets groove, plus a review of hits by body part.

Continuation: running one flow through the body, with applied combinations.

Going deeper into puppet and air pose.

Waves as flowing water, not a chain of joints.

A review of classes 6 to 9, rebuilding every move from the sacrum.

Five Crazy Legs steps, how to step, and making sound with your feet.

Season 3 finale: linking every move through three parts of the spine and mutual motion.

Class 1-1 only
I teach in Japanese. Every spoken line has an English subtitle on top of the video. You can turn them off or make them bigger. Season 1 also has English dubbed audio. Seasons 2 and 3 are being added. You can switch between it and the original Japanese under the video.
They are machine-assisted translations of what I say in class, checked in places. Some phrases may be rough. If something is unclear, tell me and I'll fix it.
Season 1 starts from the basics — stop, hit, pop, isolation, weight shift — and goes deep. Beginners can follow it, and experienced dancers usually find things they never heard explained this way.

About
Popper from Japan. I've been invited to dance and teach at events abroad, and reached world finals three times. In Tokyo and Chiba I teach a course called boogaloo fundamentals 12. I love explaining movement through the body's mechanics — I even bring a skeleton model to class.
Season 4 is already recorded. Leave your email and I'll tell you when its subtitles are ready.
